10th Annual Guilty By Association Truck Show Expected To Be Record-Setting
Transportation Nation Network Has Confirmed GBATS Organizers Expect Biggest Turnout In Show’s History
Joplin, Missouri – What began 10 years ago as a small customer appreciation weekend with only about 30 trucks in attendance has grown into one of the biggest trucking spectacles in the U.S. 4 State Trucks and The Chrome Shop Mafia know how to throw and trucking party and this year’s 10th annual Guilty By Association Truck Show (GBATS) will be no different. The show, scheduled for September 27-29, has expanded to 3 nights and two days this year and is expected to be bigger and better than ever.
Brice Martin, co-owner of 4 State Trucks said, “The growth of GBATS over the last 9 years has been a wonderful thing! We are blown away by how many of our friends, fans and fellow truckers look forward to our big September celebration. With GBATS 2017’s huge success & growth, we are expecting around 600 working show trucks in attendance for GBATS 2018! Transportation Nation Network confirmed over a week ago that GBATS had already surpassed the 600 truck mark and is going higher.
GBATS 2018 will once again feature awesome big rig burnouts, an FMX Motorcycle Stunt-Rider Show and Trailer Jump, and a Lucas Oil Semi-Truck and Tractor Pull. However, GBATS 2018 will bring new attractions such as a Professional Bull Riding event, Big Rig Diesel Drag Racing, as well as a free concert held in downtown Joplin headlined by Confederate Railroad and country music artist and trucker Tony Justice.
Trucker’s Give Back By Participating In “World’s Largest Convoy For Special Olympics”
As always, truckers can give back by participating in the record-setting convoy benefitting Special Olympics. Truckers pledge $100 per truck to enter the convoy, plus the Top 15 positions in this “World’s Largest Convoy for Special Olympics” are auctioned off, in addition to several financial donations by area trucking companies. This special convoy raised over $102,000 last year alone.
Better Enjoy It This Year!
In July, GBATS organizers announced the show would be moving to a one year on, one year off schedule. In a news release Brice Martin said, “Moving to a one year ON and one year OFF schedule will allow us to come up with more ideas, attractions, unique activities and also help us set aside a bigger budget to keep GBATS exciting, and on the ‘must see’ list of our loyal customers and friends. By making this scheduling change, it’s really the ‘next step’ in the GBATS history books. It will help us continue to put on one of the most fun trucking events in the USA for you!”
OOIDA Co-Hosting This Year And Celebrating 45th Anniversary
GBATS has partnered with the Owner Operator Independent Driver’s Association (OOIDA) in hosting this years show. Attendees will have an opportunity to talk directly with members of OOIDA’s leadership team including OOIDA President Todd Spencer and OOIDA Executive Vice President Lewie Pugh, as well as members of the Association’s Washington, D.C. Make sure also to stop by and see Jon Osburn and OOIDA’s touring tractor-trailer “The Spirit Of The American Trucker” which will be on display during the show’s duration.
FMCSA Getting In On The Party: Holding An HOS Public Listening Session
As if there wasn’t enough to do at this year’s GBATS, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has announced it will be holding a public listening session about the the proposed changes to Hours-Of-Service regulations. The listening session will be on Friday, September 28, and is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. CDT in 4 State Trucks’ shop area behind the main store.
Truckerville Featured GBATS In Season 1 Episode, “Guilty Pleasures”
Transportation Nation Network’s original series trucking show, Truckerville, featured GBATS in season 1 episode entitled “Guilty Pleasures.” Captain Greg Myhre and the Truckerville Road Crew invade the show and give viewers a truly incredible look at what makes GBATS such a special few days.
