
1,300 Pounds of Marijuana Seized From Big Rig Arriving From Mexico
Pharr, TX – More than 1,300 pounds of marijuana was seized from a big rig arriving from Mexico earlier this month.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the incident occurred at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility on June 8.
CBP officers assigned to the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge cargo facility encountered a tractor-trailer arriving from Mexico and referred the conveyance for further inspection.
Agents utilized non-intrusive imaging equipment and after physically inspecting the big rig, officers discovered 57 packages of alleged marijuana concealed within the shipment.
CBP reported the drugs weighed 1,311.75 pounds (595 kg) and estimated the street value to be $262,500.
CBP seized the narcotics and the tractor-trailer.
Authorities did not identify the trucker as the case remains under investigation by agents with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
