23-Year-Old Trucker Killed After Crashing Into Disabled Big Rig and Police Cruisers
Horse Cave, KY – A trucker was killed and two Kentucky State Police (KSP) troopers were injured in a 6-vehicle accident along Interstate 65 this week.
According to the KSP, the deadly incident occurred at approximately 8 a.m. on Tuesday along northbound I-65 near the 59 mile marker.
Troopers and tow truck operators were working to clear the scene after a tractor-trailer became disabled at approximately 6:30 a.m.
Investigators said the disabled big rig was blocking two of the three northbound lanes.
Two police cruisers were parked behind the tow truck and with emergency equipment activated when KSP said 23-year-old Maninder Singh, of Richmond, NY, lost control of the 2015 Volvo tractor-trailer he was operating.
Singh’s vehicle, which was traveling in the center lane, then collided with both KSP cruisers, the tow truck, the disabled tractor-trailer and another big rig operating in the right lane.
Singh was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Hart County Coroner, KSP informed.
Two KSP troopers suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
