Alabama Truck Driver Killed During Robbery Attempt, Shooter Still At Large

Jackson, AL – A truck driver who was found shot dead yesterday morning in a parking lot in Jackson, AL has been identified by police.

According to Jackson Police, the victim of the early Thursday morning shooting is 72-year-old Thearthor Dixon of Thomasville, AL.


Dixon, a log truck driver, was discovered near his truck by an employee at a nearby gravel pit.

Police say Dixon was shot multiple times while in his truck in what was likely a robbery attempt.

The deadly incident occurred at approximately 5 a.m. in a parking lot near a Walmart, according to multiple local media reports.


Police have yet to name a suspect or make any arrests.

The investigation is ongoing.
