Argument Between Truckers Over Tarps and Straps Lands One of Them Behind Bars

Wildwood, FL – A 55-year-old trucker was arrested last week after an argument with a fellow trucker became physical along the Florida Turnpike.

According to the Wildwood Police Department (WPD), the incident occurred on Thursday, September 10 at the Okahumpka Service Plaza.

WPD was called the scene at approximately 5:15 p.m.

Investigators said trucker Lorenzo Davis, of Johns Creek, GA, met an unidentified fellow trucker at the service plaza.

The unidentified trucker’s rig was broken down and Davis was there to take over the load and make the scheduled delivery.

However, according to WPD, an argument broke out between the two men about who should have use of the tarps and straps needed to secure the load.

Davis became angry and then allegedly disconnected an airline from the trucker’s broken down rig.

Additionally, the unidentified trucker claimed Davis also forcibly entered his truck without permission and attempted to physically assault him.

WPD arrested Davis and charged him with burglary and battery.

He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center at 7:28 p.m. and released the following day at 1:16 a.m. after posting $6,000 bond.
