Biden Caught on Hot Mic Falsely Claiming He ‘Used to Drive an 18-Wheeler’

Macungie, PA – The White House is backtracking after President Joe Biden was caught on a hot microphone falsely claiming he was once a truck driver.

On Wednesday, President Biden visited the Mack Trucks Lehigh Valley Operations facility to tout his administration’s efforts to promote American manufacturing.

During a tour of the facility, a local news outlet microphone overheard the President telling a group of executives he used to work as a trucker.

“I used to drive an 18-wheeler, man,” Biden said. “I got to.”

It’s a claim that is patently false.

When the White House was pressed on it, a spokesperson pointed FOX News to a December 1973 article from the Wilmington Evening Journal which reported Biden once rode in a big rig during a 536-mile haul to Ohio.

Further, the White House also claimed Mr. Biden once had a summer job driving a school bus.

The unsubstantiated claim is yet another gaffe by the President.

Earlier this year, both he and United States Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg were called out for falsely claiming the Biden Administration’s American Jobs Plan would create 16 million jobs.

The bogus assertion was a reference to a study conducted by economic research firm Moody’s Analytics.

An April 2021 report by Moody’s found the U.S. economy would add roughly 16.3 million jobs through 2030 regardless of whether President Biden’s American Jobs Plan becomes law or not.

Further, the study determined the economy would add roughly 2.7 million more jobs, or about 19 million in total, if Biden’s infrastructure plan is implemented.
