Memphis, TN – Police in Tennessee say a “person of interest” in the killing of a 30-year-old truck driver is now in custody after he surrendered to authorities Thursday morning.
On Wednesday morning, authorities found truck driver Dajuante Stuart, 30, of Hermitage, TN, inside the cab of his tractor-trailer dead from a gunshot wound, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO).
Investigators say the big rig was parked along the shoulder of Interstate 269 near Macon Road when authorities discovered Stuart dead inside.
Detectives were able to retrieve and review video footage from Stuart’s in-cab camera.
While details about the specific nature of the violent confrontation have not yet been released, SCSO officials say that based on video evidence the case is now being investigated as a homicide.
Transportation Nation Network (TNN) has also learned Stuart was employed by Big M Transportation.
An employee of the Blue Mountain, MS-based carrier tells TNN that word of Stuart’s untimely death has quickly spread among company members.
On Wednesday evening, SCSO investigators released multiple images (from the video) of a “person of interest” in the case.
Officials asked for the public’s help in identifying the man. (pictured below)

The man appears to be in his early-to-mid 20’s, has short brown hair, and a large tattoo on his upper right arm.
