Ottawa, ON — Canadian truckers are planning a nationwide convoy opposing the country’s ever-increasing mandates and have raised an astounding $175,000 in only a few days.

In what is being called the “Freedom Convoy 2022,” a group of Canadian truck drivers are fighting back against Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Federal Government for imposing sweeping COVID-19 vaccination, testing, and quarantining policies.

On Saturday, January 15, Canadian governmental leaders began requiring cross-border truckers to provide proof of vaccination.

Unvaccinated Canadian drivers returning from the U.S. are required to quarantine for 14 days as well as to complete a testing protocol, while unvaccinated U.S. drivers seeking entry are being turned away.

Canadian governmental leaders also plan to impose draconian vaccination rules for federally regulated workers, including truckers.

A growing number of truckers are saying “enough is enough,” according to Brigitte Belton, an owner-operator from Wallaceburg, ON, who is one of the organizers of the Freedom Convoy.

“Mr. Trudeau thinks he can tell me there are consequences for my actions but none for his, it goes both ways,” Belton told Transportation Nation Network (TNN) in an exclusive interview on Sunday. “Our intention is to get our Prime Minister’s attention. He doesn’t understand that Canada’s truckers bring him the goods his people need. What is he going to do when he doesn’t have the drivers?”

Trucking stakeholders have been warning Canadian and U.S. governmental leaders for months that imposing such policies on the trucking industry will lead to an exit of many thousands of drivers.

“The stores will be empty. There will be nothing. You’re starving people and you are okay with that?” Belton fumed to TNN.

She and fellow organizers are asking all Canadians, as well as U.S. truckers, to stand with them in the nationwide show of solidarity to protect individual rights.

“Mr. Trudeau calls us ‘anti-vaxxers.’ We are not anti-vaxx. We’re pro-choice!” she explained.

The group launched a GoFundMe campaign to “help with the costs of fuel, food and lodgings.”

“We are taking our fight to the doorsteps of our Federal Government and demanding that they cease all mandates against its people,” the campaign states. “Small businesses are being destroyed, homes are being destroyed, and people are being mistreated and denied fundamental necessities to survive. It’s our duty as Canadians to put an end to [these] mandates.”

In only a few days the campaign has already raised more than $175,000 at time of publishing.

“I’m just blown away,” Belton said of the overwhelming response. “It’s touched a nerve because it’s two years of suppression and we’ve had enough. We are at the breaking point. We need the politicians to wake up.”

The Freedom Convoy is set to begin on January 23, and will traverse along multiple routes from across the country with the plan to converge in Ottawa on January 28.
