Chain Reaction Crash Between Car and 3 Big Rigs Leaves One Person Dead, 3 More Injured

Spotsylvania County, VA – One person is dead and three more are injured after an early Wednesday morning crash along an interstate in Virginia.

According to the Virginia State Police (VSP), the accident occurred at approximately 5:11 a.m when a sedan traveling southbound on Interstate 95 “ran off the left side of the roadway.”


The vehicle then collided with a guardrail and continued across all three travel lanes and off the right side of the roadway before smashing into a big rig which was parked along the shoulder.

“The sedan came to rest in the right travel lane and was struck by two additional southbound tractor-trailers,” a VSP release stated.

One person was pronounced dead and three more suffered injuries.

Authorities have not yet identified the deceased or those who were injured.


An investigation into what led to the fatal scene remains ongoing.

All lanes of traffic along southbound I-95 have since been reopened.
