Cop “Glanced” at Computer Just Before Smashing Into Big Rig, Police Say
San Antonio, TX – A San Antonio police officer was seriously injured after crashing into the side of a tractor-trailer early Friday morning.
Local news outlet News 4 San Antonio reported the accident happened around 2:30 a.m. Friday at the AT&T Parkway and Aniol Street intersection on the East side.
Authorities said the unidentified officer with the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) had just ended his shift and was en route back to the station, driving his official vehicle.
According to police, the officer was driving southbound on AT&T Parkway when he “glanced down” to his computer.
Upon looking back to the roadway, he saw the semi-truck “in the middle of the street.”
The officer was unable to avoid the truck and crashed into the side of the trailer.
Images from the scene show the police cruiser SUV wedged underneath a loaded flatbed trailer, with the load seemingly still secure.
