Crash Involving Three Tractor-Trailers Shuts Down Stretch of I-25 For Hours

Castle Rock, CO – A six-vehicle accident involving three tractor-trailers shut down a portion of Interstate 25 in Castle Rock for hours on Thursday.

According to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP), multiple big rigs collided with passenger vehicles on Thursday afternoon along I-25 northbound near the 172 mile marker.

CSP investigators have not yet said what led to the crash.

However, eyewitnesses indicated a lane closure a bit ahead stemming from another accident caused traffic to quickly narrow and likely contributed to the collision.

CSP posted images from the crash scene revealing at least two passengers vehicles crunched between big rigs.

The accident led to full closure of that stretch of I-25 northbound for approximately three hours.

Authorities have not yet provided any further details about the drivers involved.

TransportationNation.com will continue to monitor any new updates.
