Dump Truck Driver Almost Kills Motorists In Horrifying Accident
Savage, Minnesota – This story comes to us from swnewsmedia.com where last Thursday a horrifying accident could have been much, much worse after a dump truck smashed into the rear of an SUV which was sitting at a traffic light along Hwy. 13 near the Savage-Burnsville border.
According to Minnesota State Patrol Public Information Officer Lt. Tiffani Nielson, the crash occurred at 9:44 a.m. A semi with two SUVs behind it were all stopped at the intersection of Highway 13 northbound and Washburn Avenue. A dump truck failed to stop and crashed into the vehicles which rammed the two SUVs into the back end of the semi.
Amazingly both SUV drivers only suffered non-life-threatening injuries for broken bones. The dump truck driver, Andy Lee Stafford, 48, of Owatonna, was cited for failure to use due care. A state trooper on scene reported Stafford did not appear to be impaired by drugs or alcohol. The driver did not report any brake failure and was apparently simply not paying adequate attention.
We want to know your opinion… what should be the penalty for CDL drivers in a case like this? Had any one died the charges against the driver would have been much more severe. Sound off in the comment section below.
