Dump Truck Strikes, Kills Pedestrian In Pilot Travel Center Lot

Butler County, PA – A dump truck fatally struck a pedestrian in a Pilot Travel Center lot near the Route 422 and I-79 intersection. The accident happened around 1 p.m. authorities said.

The dump truck was backing out of a fuel pump when it struck the 64-year-old pedestrian knocking him to the ground. The driver of the dump truck did not realize he had struck anyone and continued backing over the victim and then driving forward over him, according to police. Onlookers began shouting at the dump truck driver to stop, but it was too late.

Police have not released the identity of the victim, but did indicate he was from Ontario, Canada. The investigation is ongoing, but no charges have been filed against the dump truck driver at this time. We will update you on this story as new information becomes available.
