‘Flaming Hay’ From Semi Fire Destroys Two Cars
Transportation Nation Featured News
Kansas City, MO – You don’t see this every day. Authorities say two Kansas City motorist’s cars were destroyed by fire after a semi-truck hauling hay caught fire along I-35. The semi was stopped on an overpass when the ‘Flaming Hay’ fell from the truck onto the cars parked in a lot below. One of the victims, Ashley Emerson, a tattoo artist, said a customer came running into his tattoo shop to give him the news his car was on fire. “I had to run out, and I had gloves on, ready to tattoo, so I had to just break everything down and just work it out,” he said.
Emerson said the trucker was kind enough to pay for his car to be towed and that he is thankful no one was injured. “Until all this gets sorted out, just got to keep my chin up and keep moving,” he said.
The accident caused hours of delays in the northbound lanes of I-35, but as Emerson said, thankfully no one was injured.
