Florida Motorist Accused of Climbing Onto Semi and Assaulting Trucker Along Interstate

Cocoa, FL – A 37-year-old Florida man was arrested this week when authorities say he climbed onto a semi-truck to confront the truck’s driver during a road rage incident in Brevard County.

According to local reporting from ClickOrlando.com, the incident occurred on Thursday on Interstate 95.

Authorities said traffic on I-95 in Cocoa was at a standstill during the afternoon when motorist Richard Robitaille, of Orlando, got into a verbal altercation with an unidentified 65-year-old trucker.

The events leading up to the dispute were not divulged by officials.

However, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) say it led to Robitaille exiting his vehicle in the middle of the roadway.

He then allegedly climbed onto the steps of the semi and continued the argument.

In attempts to defend himself, the trucker reportedly attempted to burn Robitaille with a cigarette.

As a result, Robitaille pushed the driver’s arm away.

Robitaille was arrested at approximately 2:45 p.m. on a charge of battery on a person 65 years or older.

He was booked into the Brevard County Jail.

County records show his bond is set at $8,000.
