Okay, c’mon. Admit it. We’re all worried about costs and fuel economy, but hasn’t secretly dreamed of cruising the big road in a truck like the W900? I mean, if you hit lit the lottery, what kind of truck would be sitting in your driveway?
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the W900 model, Kenworth has done up a special edition called the Icon 900. It’s a full dresser with all the toys and a very attractive graphics package that just retro enough to rekindle the good times of trucking’s hay days.
The ICON 900 can be ordered in any color and comes standard with many chrome and stainless steel accessories, starting with a chrome hood badge that is a one-of-a-kind and only available on this model. Other distinguishing features include stainless steel fender guards, upgraded headlights, headlamp covers, under door panels and sleeper panels, grille closeout panel, plus a large sun visor. It’s available with Cummins engines up to a 600-hp engine, and 72- or 86-in. sleepers.
Inside, a custom dash plate shows the production number. Also included are high back leather seats with special embroidering and a sofa bed upgraded to leather to match the seats.
In short, it’s a peach.
Equipment Editor Jim Park got a ride in the Icon 900 at an editor ride-and-drive event help in Chillicothe, Ohio, the home of one of Kenworth’s manufacturing facilities, and the plant where the W900 models are built.
