“Highly Intoxicated” Trucker Leads Police on 3-Mile Chase
Carlisle, PA – A trucker from Texas was arrested and charged with multiple crimes after authorities said he led them on a 3-mile chase while “highly intoxicated.”
According to the Carlisle Borough Police Department (CBPD), a patrol officer attempted to stop a big rig as it was leaving the Carlisle Commons Shopping Center on Saturday, August 24 at approximately 2:56 a.m.
The driver, Eduardo Andrade, of Eagle Pass, TX, failed to acknowledge the marked police car behind him with its lights and siren activated, CBPD said.
Instead of pulling over, Andrade sped off and entered I-81 south bound.
Carlisle Police, with the assistance of the PA State Police, pursued Andrade for approximately 3 miles, at which time, Andrade chose to pull over, according to officials.
He was taken into custody without further incident.
Officers reported also discovering two passengers inside the semi-truck, one of which was Andrade’s 17-year-old son.
CBPD said both of the passengers were also found to have been consuming alcohol.
Andrade was charged with DUI general impairment, DUI highest rate, fleeing or attempting to elude police while DUI, recklessly endangering another person, furnishing alcohol to minors, and several vehicle code violations.
He was arraigned and committed to Cumberland County Prison on $25,000 bail.
