Husband and Wife Accused of Stealing from Trucking Company in Forgery Scheme

El Paso, TX – An El Paso woman and her husband turned themselves into authorities this week after warrants were issued for their arrests in connection to a forgery scheme at a trucking company.

According to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPCSO), 38-year-old Vanessa Martinez, and her husband, 43-year-old Antonio Martinez, engaged in a scheme to steal money from an El Paso trucking company.

Investigators first began looking into a complaint from the trucking company, which has not yet been identified, on August 2, 2019.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned that Vanessa, who was an employee of the company, stole “various company checks along with the authorization codes,” EPCSO said.

Authorities allege Vanessa gave the checks and authorization codes to Antonio.

He then allegedly signed and cashed the checks at a gas station where he was employed, according to EPCSO.

Authorities have yet to disclose how much money was allegedly stolen and how long the scheme lasted.

Warrants were issued for the couple’s arrest on August 29.

The couple turned themselves into authorities on September 4.

The Martinez’s were then booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
