Investigation Ongoing After Man Found Dead in Semi-Truck Along Illinois Interstate

UPDATE: Coroner Says It Wasn’t The Crash That Killed Trucker Found Dead Inside His Semi-Truck

Sangamon County, IL – Illinois authorities are investigating after a person was found dead early Thursday morning inside a semi-truck along an Illinois interstate.

According to a release from Sangamon County Coroner’s Office (SCCO), coroner Jim Allmon, at approximately 2:30 a.m. a deceased person was discovered inside a big rig that had traveled off of Interstate 55.




 

According to Allmon, the truck was located near the southbound lanes of I-55 around exit 105 (Sherman).

Not many details are yet known about the incident.

Additionally, it was not stated if the death is being investigated as suspicious.

Officials are withholding the identity of the deceased at this time.




 

Allmon noted that an autopsy is scheduled for later today.

SCCO along with Illinois State Police (ISP) are investigating.
