Truckstop Ministries Widow Remembers

Rev. Joe passed away peacefully on July 26, 2018 at the age of 70. Our thoughts and prayers with the family, friends and colleagues of Joe Hunter, founder of Truckstop Ministries.

A message from Truckstop Ministries:

It is with regret and great sadness that we announce the death of Rev. Joseph Herman Hunter (Chaplain Joe).

Chaplain Joe, the charismatic President and Founder of Truckstop Ministries Inc. who took his evangelizing across the country from coast to coast, finally met Jesus face to face on 7/26/2018, according to his family. He was 70 years old.

Chaplain Joe achieved the monumental task of placing 74 Chapels at truck stops in 28 states across this nation since March of 1981. He served as Chaplain, evangelist, and counselor to many Drivers and Ministry Teams. He preached to thousands across the United States during his life, and his message of Jesus Christ reached the multitudes through radio, teaching CDs, and the Internet. Chaplain Joe also wrote daily devotionals on Facebook.

Chaplain Joe died at 11:07pm at Sacred Journey Hospice in McDonough, Georgia.

Chaplain Joe was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in 2016. The family stated that Chaplain Joe died in his sleep. “It was described by his family as a very peaceful passing; he was not in any pain”.

Our deepest sympathy goes out to his wife, Jan Hunter, and the entire Hunter family.

Because of Chaplain Joe’s hard work and the dedication of the TMI Staff, Truckstop Ministries Inc. will continue its mission of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with America’s Truck Drivers “without missing a beat,” as Chaplain Joe wanted.
