Jackson County, Mississippi – Police along with a SWAT team are in a standoff with a Paschall Truck Lines driver along I-10 in Mississippi.

According to numerous reports, the truck driver, who has not yet been identified, has been barricaded inside his truck for more than an hour. Police believe he is armed with a machete.

Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell said authorities believe the truck driver was involved in a road rage incident this morning with another trucker near the Alabama/Mississippi border. Witnesses told authorities they observed two semi-trucks driving recklessly. Officials do not yet know what the nature of the dispute was.

However, following the incident, the trucker who is now engaged in a standoff with police, was involved in two different hit-and-run accidents. One of the accidents involved an ambulance, according to Sheriff Ezell.

The truck then continued on into Mississippi and the Jackson Counties deputies began pursuing the suspect. The truck driver then reportedly pulled over on the right shoulder of I-10 near mile marker 60 and exited his truck.

Extensive traffic delays have been reported along I-10. MHP spokesperson Chase Elkins called the situation “very dangerous.” This is a developing story.
