Richmond, IN – One man is in police custody and another is in critical condition after an altercation on Friday night along I-70 led to an apparent stabbing.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at approximately 6:09 pm. along eastbound I-70 near mile marker 154.

Authorities received a call about a disabled semi and dispatched deputies to the scene.

Upon arriving to the scene, officers say they discovered two men inside the truck.

One of them was suffering from what appeared to be at least one stab wound.

The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was taken to a nearby hospital and is reportedly in critical condition.

Authorities then questioned the other occupant of the semi-truck, 47-year-old Pavel Nery-Gonzalez, of Miami, Florida.

He is being held in the Wayne County Jail awaiting a court appearance.

Authorities have not yet revealed the nature of the disagreement between the two men or what led to the violent altercation.

The incident shut down the eastbound lanes in the area for about 4 hours as investigators and emergency responders were on scene.

Authorities say the semi-truck will be processed for additional evidence.
