Motorist Dies After Smashing Into Big Rig Police Say Was “Illegally Parked”
Butler County, Ohio – A 39-year-old motorist died on Wednesday morning after the SUV he was driving smashed into the rear of a tractor-trailer investigators said was “illegally parked” on an exit-ramp.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Fei Ni, also known as “Peter,” was traveling north on Interstate 75 near Ohio 63 when he exited to approach a rest area. Investigators said Fei Ni lost control of the 2001 Toyota Sequoia and traveled off the left side of the marked portion of the exit ramp at approximately 9:45 a.m.
That’s when police said the Sequoia struck the rear end of a tractor-trailer that was parked on the left shoulder. Fei Ni was pronounced dead on the scene.
The truck driver, Michael Vosburg, 36, of Lawrence, MI, was asleep inside the sleeper berth at the time of the fatal collision. Vosburg was not injured.
Police issued Vosburg a traffic citation for parking in a no-parking zone. Police have not indicated why Fei Ni lost control or why Vosburg said he was parked illegally.
