Motorist Runs Red Light Causing Two Semis To Collide

Bryan, Texas – Bryan Police say a motorist driving a SUV disregarded a red light and pulled in front of not one, but two semis. The accident happened last Friday night around 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of San Jacinto Lane (SH 21) and W. William J. Bryan Parkway. Police say the driver of the SUV ignored the red light and pulled directly in front of the big rigs which were traveling eastbound on San Jacinto. One of the trucks struck the SUV, and then collided with the other semi-truck. The trucks became entangled. Emergency crews were called to the scene and the trucks had to be pulled apart.

According to authorities, the driver of the SUV was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The truckers were not hurt in the accident. However, it is yet another reminder of the challenges and safety risks truckers face every single day, even when negotiating something as simple as a red light.
