National Truck Driver Appreciation Week Spotlights Just How Important Truckers Are
Washington D.C. – National Truck Driver Appreciation Week 2020 (NTDAW) kicked off on Sunday.
Each year the American Trucking Associations (ATA) and its partners sponsor NTDAW to recognize and honor the contributions made by America’s 3.5 million professional truck drivers.
This year’s celebration runs from September 13 through 19.
Many trucking companies will host special events such as cookouts and awards presentations in recognition of the incredible contributions made by truck drivers.
However, this year could have a bit more significance as many Americans recently realized, perhaps for the first time, just how important truckers are to their daily way of life.
The COVID-19 pandemic put the valuable contributions truckers make on full display as drivers risked their own personal health and well-being for the good of all Americans.
Truckers have always braved natural disasters and times of economic hardship, but as widespread lockdowns due to the coronavirus pandemic took hold, millions of Americans expressed a new appreciation for truckers.
As part of the week-long celebration, the ATA released a video highlighting this.

None of us care about the one week out of 52 that we get appreciated when most of the time we get treated like shit. This appreciation means nothing.
