Oilfield Hauler To Lay Off More Than 100 Employees For The Second Time This Year
Monahans, Texas – An oilfield equipment and chemical hauler intends to layoff more than 100 workers according to a recently filed Worker Adjustment Retraining Notification (WARN) letter.
Sugarland, Texas-based Product & Logistics Services, LLC, filed a WARN notice this week with the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) indicating the company will be “closing employee-serviced operations out of Monahans, Texas, and surrounding areas.”
The company says the layoffs are set to occur July 6 to July 19, 2019 and will be permanent for 124 employees.
P&LS is a subsidiary of the multi-billion dollar Schlumberger Limited which describes itself on its website as “the world’s leading provider of technology for reservoir characterization, drilling, production, and processing to the oil and gas industry.”
The company has more than 100,000 employees in 85 countries and reported more than $32 billion in revenue in 2017.
According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s SAFER company snapshot, P&LS Logistics Services operates 475 power units and employs 226 drivers.
The company did not provide a reason in its WARN notice as to why it was shutting down the Monahans facility.
It is also unclear how many drivers will be impacted as a result of the impending layoffs.
In January of this year, P&LS cut more than 180 jobs after it closed offices in Von Ormy and Pleasanton, TX.
The company reportedly still has offices in Wyoming and North Dakota, along with its headquarters in Sugarland.
