Phoenix, AZ – Nikola Corporation announced last week a partnership with flatbed trucking company PGT Trucking, Inc. (PGT) to lease 100 heavy-duty fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs).

According to a press release, the companies have signed a letter of intent following a “satisfactory completion of a Nikola Tre FCEV demonstration program.”

The lease also includes scheduled maintenance and hydrogen fueling solutions, the companies stated.

Deliveries of the FCEVs to PGT are expected to begin in 2023 when production commences at Nikola’s manufacturing facility in Coolidge, AZ.

According to Nikola, its Tre FCEV cabover has an anticipated range up to 500 miles and will be used for PGT’s customers in the steel, building materials, machinery, oil & gas, raw materials, aluminum and automotive industries.

“PGT is proud to partner with Nikola as we evolve our fleet with a broad focus on the future of flatbed,” said Gregg Troian, President of PGT. “This partnership will give us the opportunity to offer progressive transportation solutions to our customers, while aligning with corporate-driven sustainability initiatives, and reducing their carbon footprint using innovative energy sources.”
