PGT Trucking to ‘Evolve Fleet’ With 100 Nikola Fuel Cell Electric Heavy-Duty Trucks
Phoenix, AZ – Nikola Corporation announced last week a partnership with flatbed trucking company PGT Trucking, Inc. (PGT) to lease 100 heavy-duty fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs).
According to a press release, the companies have signed a letter of intent following a “satisfactory completion of a Nikola Tre FCEV demonstration program.”
The lease also includes scheduled maintenance and hydrogen fueling solutions, the companies stated.
Deliveries of the FCEVs to PGT are expected to begin in 2023 when production commences at Nikola’s manufacturing facility in Coolidge, AZ.
According to Nikola, its Tre FCEV cabover has an anticipated range up to 500 miles and will be used for PGT’s customers in the steel, building materials, machinery, oil & gas, raw materials, aluminum and automotive industries.

Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Phoenix, Nikola designs and manufacturers zero-emission battery-electric and hydrogen-electric vehicles, electric vehicle drivetrains, vehicle components, energy storage systems, and hydrogen station infrastructure.
Aliquippa, PA-based PGT was founded in 1981 and employs 751 drivers and owns 945 power units according to data from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
