Police Release Terrifying BodyCam Video of Big Rig Crash to Send a Message
Sweetwater County, WY – Police in Wyoming have released a deputy’s bodycam video from a big rig crash last weekend in hopes of sending a message to drivers.
On Sunday, January 24, a deputy with the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) was working an extra patrol shift in the Wamsutter area.
According to SCSO, he responded to a report of multiple traffic crashes and slide-offs near mile marker 169 on Interstate 80.
While carrying out his duties, the deputy’s bodycam caught a terrifying big rig crash.
An Amazon Prime tractor-trailer failed to adequately slow and jackknifed.
The Prime big rig can be seen barreling into and sideswiping a blue Volvo tractor-trailer which was in the right lane and slowing.
A back tire axle from the Prime trailer goes flying at the officer who had parked his SUV nearby.
Luckily, the deputy narrowly avoided serious injury or possibly even death.
“Please pay attention and slow down,” the SCSO said in a social media post about the incident. “All of our lives depend on it.”
