Questions Remain After Man Found Dead in Big Rig Submerged in River

Mulberry, AR – Authorities are investigating after a man was found dead inside a big rig submerged in the Arkansas River.

According to local outlet 5 News, a tractor-trailer was discovered in the River off of Vine Prairie Road in Mulberry at approximately 8:45 p.m. Sunday night.

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), along with the Mulberry Police and Fire Departments, responded to the scene and found the big rig almost nearly submerged in the river.

Investigators made several attempts to enter the cab of the truck but indicated the flow and depth of the river in that specific location made it impossible to do so.

Crews had to wait until a heavy haul wrecker arrived to pull the rig from the water.

When they did, authorities found a deceased white male inside.

His identity has not yet been released.

The investigation into exactly what happened remains ongoing.
