Read The Signs And Don’t Try This

Mendocino County, California – State Route 175 (SR 175) is a state highway in California and connects U.S. Route 101 at Hopland in Mendocino County and State Route 29 near Lakeport between Kelseyville and Middletown through the Mayacamas Mountains. The section between Hopland and Lakeport is known by truckers and locals as the “Hopland Grade” or “Hopland Pass.”

This stretch of road was originally constructed in the early 1920’s and is known to be one of the steepest and most treacherous of any California highway. It’s also frequently called the “crookedest road in California.” More importantly, vehicles more than 39 feet (12 m) in length are banned from the Hopland Grade because of the many hairpin turns.

Unfortunately for this trucker he didn’t get that message and subsequently paid the price. We truly hope he is alright.
