Road Rage Battle Ends in Trucker’s Arrest on Assault and Weapons Charges

Teterboro, NJ – A Pennsylvania trucker was arrested after authorities say he threatened to shoot a motorist during a heated road rage exchange along Route 80 on Tuesday.

New Jersey State Police (NJSP) issued an alert following a road rage confrontation between a big rig driver and a motorist Tuesday on Route 80 in Teterboro.

NJSP says 35-year-old truck driver Alex Rafael Diaz Gonzales of Wilkes Barre, PA, “reportedly brandished a black firearm and threatened another driver.”

Moonachie Police officers later spotted Gonzales’s tractor-trailer near the Route 80 exit ramp to North Street in Teterboro after leaving a local business.

Officers arrested Gonzales after finding a black Glock 23 inside the cab of his semi-truck.

The weapon was seized and Gonzales was turned over to NJSP.

He’s charged with aggravated assault and assorted weapons charges, including having large-capacity ammunition and hollow-nose bullets, records show.

According to authorities, the incident occurred after Gonzales became enraged that the motorist cut him off.
