Semi Strikes School Bus In Colorado

Weld County, Colorado – According to CBS4 in Denver, a Weld County school bus was struck Tuesday morning by a semi-truck leaving both drivers injured.

Authorities say the semi struck the school bus at 7:28 a.m. along Weld County Road 13 and Highway 66 east of Longmont. Both drivers were rushed to a nearby hospital. However, their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The bus was a St. Vrain Valley School District bus and authorities have confirmed children were on board. Initial reports were that 2 children had been injured. Those reports have since been amended to report no children were injured.

Investigators say their preliminary findings reveal the semi struck the bus and the bus went into a roadside ditch. The semi came to rest in a nearby field.

Additionally, investigators say the weather conditions played a role as road conditions were wet and heavy fog impeded visibility. Police are still investigating. This is a developing story.
