Semi-Truck Downs Power Lines Sparking Massive Fire at Hardees
Logansport, IN – A Hardee’s in Indiana is being called “a total loss” after a semi-truck making a delivery hit some power lines, which then fell on the restaurant and sparked a fire.
The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m Sunday at the Hardee’s in Logansport on East Market Street.
According to the Logansport Police Department, an eye-witness who called 9-1-1 said a semi-truck making a delivery to the restaurant caught and downed a power line.
The power line landed on the roof of the Hardee’s which sparked a fire to a piece of equipment.
Guests and employees were inside at the time of the incident, but all were able to escape without injuries, the Logansport Fire Department (LFD) reported.
According to local news outlet WLFI, Logansport Municipal Utilities were forced to turn off electricity in the area before firefighters were able to battle the blaze.
Authorities say the flames were almost extinguished by 3:30 p.m. when a section of the roof at the back of the restaurant began to buckle.
The influx of air caused a large fireball to erupt.
Firefighters were still on the scene into the evening hours, LFD said.
The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, but authorities are calling the building “a total loss.”
The name of the driver was not released and it is unclear if there will be any charges.
