“Senseless Mob” Sets Fire To Semi And City Bus, No Arrests Reported
Oakland, California – A sideshow in Oakland turned destructive on Sunday night when looters destroyed a semi-truck and a passenger bus, according the Oakland Police.
The incident happened at the intersection of 42nd Avenue and International Boulevard at approximately 8:45 p.m.
According to a report from NBC, the sideshows began Sunday afternoon and by 8:00 p.m. the crowd had become unruly.
Authorities said the AC Transit bus and the semi-truck became trapped in the intersection when looters began ransacking the vehicles.
As the drivers of the vehicles attempted to maneuver away from the crowd, looters set the truck and bus on fire.
Authorities responded to the scene and said they were able to get the situation under control at about 10 p.m., but not before the bus and truck went up in flames.
A Facebook post by Oakland Police said,
“Just another evening in Oakland. Sideshows are dangerous and unlawful events that terrorize our neighborhoods. It is incumbent on City leaders to address sideshow by supporting Oakland residents and Police Officers against this behavior…….”
Oakland Firefighters also weighed in on Facebook writing,
“There have been numerous injuries from these dangerous and lawless gatherings throughout the Town…luckily no one in the bus or semi was hurt as a result of this senseless mob. Enough!”
No arrests were made and no injuries were reported.
