Speeding Motorist Attempts Deadly Pass Of Semi

Austin, Texas – A motorist is dead after witnesses say they saw him make an ill-advised attempt to pass a semi on Interstate 35. Police said the collision happened just before 12:30 a.m. near Manor.

Witnesses told police they saw the motorist speeding when the vehicle pulled onto the interstate and behind a semi-truck. Police said the driver attempted to pass the semi in the right lane, but noticed another car was stopped there. The motorist then tried to get back behind the semi, but instead crashed into the trailer.

The motorist was found dead in his car at the scene. Authorities are still investigating if drugs or alcohol could have played a role. However, the truck driver was uninjured and police say was not at all at fault.
