Speeding Motorist Runs Red Light Sending “Lucky” Trucker Smashing Into Liquor Store

North Hollywood, CA – A truck driver says he is “lucky” to be alive after a motorist ran a red light and smashed into his rig, causing it to plow into a liquor store.

The accident occurred Monday at approximately 3:20 a.m. near Lankershim Boulevard and Sherman Way, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Trucker Francisco Aparicio says he lost control when a speeding white passenger vehicle ran a red light and struck him.

The big rig then mowed over a traffic light pole and plowed into the liquor store.

Remarkably, Aparicio was uninjured in the crash.

“I thank God. I’m very lucky,” Aparicio told multiple local news outlets on the scene.

“I lost my control, I lost everything. I just see the truck moving to the store, but there’s nothing I could do to stop the truck,” he said according to ABC 7.

The driver of the sedan was transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for a head injury.

Investigators say rainy conditions created slick roadways and excessive speed were both factors in the crash.
