Tanker Overturns Damaging Utility Pole In Front Of Flying J Truck Stop

Genesee County, New York – A truck driver had a bad day at the office yesterday after his tanker overturned near a Flying J truck stop on Route 77.

Genesee County Emergency Services Coordinator Timothy Yager says a truck driver was hauling 6,500 gallons of motor oil when he left a Flying J truck stop on Route 77 near the Thruway interchange. That’s when Yager says the trucker received a warning light on his dashboard and pulled over.

“He pulled over to check it, and apparently he just pulled off too far over onto the soft shoulder, causing the trailer to tip on its side,” Yager said. The accident damaged the truck and trailer along with a utility pole causing quite a scene.

No oil was spilled, but before the truck was moved a separate tanker was dispatched to transfer the load. The name of the driver was not immediately released by authorities.
