Tire Blowout Blamed For Death Of Trucker In Virginia
Rockbridge County, Virginia – A tire blowout is being blamed for the death of a West Virginia truck driver on Monday along Interstate 64 in Virginia.
Virginia State Police (VSP) said Bruce Allen Harmon, 56, of Redhouse, West Virginia, was operating a 2016 Freightliner tractor-trailer along eastbound I-64, about 3 miles west of Sycamore Road in Rockbridge County, when at approximately 5:30 p.m. the truck blew a tire.
Police say the truck then ran off the left side of the road, hit an embankment, crossed the eastbound lanes and struck the guardrail on the right side of the roadway.
Mr. Harmon perished at the scene according to investigators.
VSP said its investigation is ongoing.
