Truck Driver and Three Motorists Killed in Crossover Crash on Missouri Highway

Garden City, MO – A truck driver and three motorists were killed in a crossover crash Monday morning along a Missouri highway.

The deadly incident occurred at approximately 11:15 a.m. when a 2000 Peterbilt, operated by Everett E. Ashley, 59, of Lowry City, MO, was southbound on State Route F.

According to investigators, Ashley lost control of the rig before traveling down an embankment and crossing into the northbound entrance ramp to MO-7.

The tractor-trailer then collided with a 2015 Nissan SUV driven by Stephen W. Bennett, 61, of Junction City, KS.

Ashley was pronounced dead at the scene, though it remains unclear if he died due to injuries sustained in the accident or as a result of a medical event.

Bennett, along with two other passengers in the SUV, Gerald Dittman, 68, of Hope, KS, and Jean Pariseau, 71, of Herinton, KS, also perished in the crash.

Dakota Engel, 29, also a passenger in the SUV, reportedly suffered serious injuries and was flown by helicopter to a Kansas City hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
