Truck Driver Dies In Fiery Crash After Colliding With Parked Semi Along I-35

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma – A semi-truck driver died Monday morning in a crash along I-35 involving another semi-truck.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol the crash occurred at about 7:30 a.m. when a 2015 Volvo semi was struck from the rear by a 2005 Freightliner driven by a 61-year-old Carlos Escoto of Garland, TX.

Escoto died at the scene from massive injuries. Investigators say the Volvo, operated by 24-year-old Christopher McCaleb of Mesquite, TX, was parked along the shoulder of I-35 at the time his truck was struck. It is unclear why the Volvo was parked at the time.

Both trucks caught fire until emergency crews could put out the blaze. McCaleb was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.
