Truck Driver Leaves The Scene After Semi Strikes And Kills Female Construction Worker
Dublin, Ohio – A truck driver left the scene after the semi-truck he was operating struck and killed a female construction worker on Friday morning along U.S. 33.
Police say Teresa Howell, 24, of Greenwhich, Ohio, was working with Lake Erie Construction of Norwalk, repairing guardrails when she was hit and killed at approximately 9 a.m. on eastbound U.S. 33. Union County Sheriff Jamie Patton said the semi-truck ran over numerous traffic cones before striking and killing Howell.
The truck driver, driving for Mansfield, Ohio-based Estep Express, continued on without stopping. Eye-witnesses provided the license plate number of the truck and traffic cams help authorities track the trucker to a warehouse on the southside of Columbus where they were able to question him.
However, it is unclear at this time if the trucker claims to have known he struck Howell. No determination on charges has been made as the investigation is ongoing.
Transportation Nation Network will continue to follow the story.
