Truck Driver Shot By Motorist In Road Rage Incident
Ocala, Florida — According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) a truck driver was shot Thursday by a motorist in an apparent incident of road rage.
Officials say they received a call at approximately 10:30 p.m. that a shooting had taken place along Interstate 75. According to investigators, a truck driver was shot on Interstate 75 by an unknown person from a moving vehicle.
Investigators said they are not certain exactly what led to the altercation, but appears to be a road rage incident. Sheriff’s Office officials said the truck was in the inside lane of northbound I-75 near the State Road 200 exit, which is being repaired, when a sport utility vehicle drove beside the truck in the emergency lane.
The motorist fired several shots from the SUV, and one of the rounds struck the driver in the left arm. The SUV then sped northbound on I-75.
The truck driver, whose name has not been released, was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
