Truck Driver Shot Multiple Times After Ramming Police Vehicles During Human Smuggling Bust
La Salle County, TX — A truck driver was shot multiple times by police over the weekend during a pursuit resulting in a human smuggling bust.
According to the La Salle County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), the incident began late Saturday evening when Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) Troopers along with Dimmit County law enforcement officers attempted to stop a semi-tanker.
The driver of the truck — a U.S. citizen who investigators said has a criminal history — attempted to evade police as he then entered La Salle County.
Troopers deployed tire deflation devices and La Salle County Deputies began assisting in the pursuit.
The big rig then entered Interstate 35 and continued evading while traveling northbound.
During the pursuit, police attempted to block the truck’s path with their vehicles.
The truck driver failed to stop and rammed multiple police units, causing injury to one Trooper who was transported from the scene to a nearby hospital.
After what investigators described as “vehicular assault,” police opened fire on the truck and driver striking both multiple times which brought an end to the pursuit.
The driver reportedly survived but was also transported to a nearby hospital.
A subsequent search of the semi-truck and tanker resulted in the discovery of 62 illegal migrants.
Each were turned over to U.S. Border Patrol Laredo Sector agents.
Check out photos from the scene below.

I counted nearly 27 bullet holes in the back of the truck. The majority which looked to be head shots. If that driver survived, he’s darn lucky besides being stupid.
