Tragic Ending To Trucker’s Attempt To Pass Vehicle On Two-Lane Minnesota Highway

Havana Township, Minnesota – A truck driver attempting to pass a slower vehicle along a two-lane highway in southern Minnesota collided head on with another car killing one of the passengers in that car.

Minnesota State Patrol (MSP) said the fatal crash occurred at approximately 5 p.m. Saturday night on Highway 14 in Havanna Township east of Owatonna. According to authorities, truck driver Hashim L. Saddiq, 29, of Blaine, was driving a semi eastbound when he attempted to pass a vehicle on the two-lane highway.

Saddiq’s semi-truck then collided head on with a Pontiac sedan driven by 67-year-old Todd R. Anderson who suffered life-threatening injuries. His passenger, 58-year-old Allison C. Anderson, suffered fatal injuries in the crash.

Saddiq and his passenger, 28-year-old Abdisalam H. Hassan, 28, of Oakdale, were not injured. Officials have not yet announced any charges, but say charges are possible.
