Trucker Arrested After Pulling Gun On Motorist

Morris County, New Jersey – An enraged truck driver allegedly pulled a handgun on a motorist along I-80 on Friday.

New Jersey State Police (NJSP) said truck driver David Fonseca, 27, of Rochester, allegedly brandished a handgun and pointed it at a motorist on I-80 driving through Roxbury on Friday at approximately 11:15 a.m.

According to authorities, the motorist who Fonseca is accused of threatening called 9-1-1 following the incident and told police Fonseca pulled along side the 4-wheeler and began pointing the weapon at him in anger. The caller gave police a description of Fonseca’s tractor-trailer with New York plates.


Troopers then detained Fonseca minutes later. Police said Fonseca was questioned and a .32 caliber revolver was found in his possession. Fonseca was arrested and charged with two weapons offenses and aggravated assault, according to NJSP.

The events leading to the gun-wielding incident were not disclosed. Fonseca is being held at the Morris County jail pending a detention hearing.
