Trucker Charged With Beating Tow Truck Driver Who Booted His Truck in Walmart Lot
Gardner, KS – A Minnesota truck driver is facing felony criminal charges after he allegedly beat a tow truck driver who had booted his semi-truck while parked in a Walmart lot.
According to Johnson County Court records, the incident occurred on August 24, 2020 at a Walmart located at 1725 E. Santa Fe St. in Gardner.
Authorities say witnesses identified truck driver Mustafa Egal, 38, of Minneapolis, MN, as the man responsible for beating a tow truck driver who had booted Egal’s semi-truck.
When police arrived to the scene, they found the victim lying on the ground in a pool of blood having suffered severe injuries to his head.
Investigators learned the tow truck operator had been called to the scene by Walmart personnel after Egal had illegally parked in the store’s lot.
Witnesses told police that after the victim booted Egal’s truck, Egal became angry and attempted to drive away and struck the tow truck.
Egal then allegedly exited his truck with an iron bar in-hand.
Investigators say an enraged Egal struck the tow truck operator in the head at least three times.
The victim sustained life-threatening injuries which included numerous broken bones in his face, a bruise on his brain and a severe laceration on his left ear.
Further, witnesses indicated Egal initially attempted to flee the scene, but was convinced to remain in order to render aid to the victim.
Egal is now charged with one count of aggravated battery with great bodily harm and has been released on $25,000 bond.
He is due in Johnson County Court on October 6 for a preliminary hearing.
