Trucker Charged With Murder After Co-Driver’s Body Found in Ditch Along Interstate
White County, IN — A trucker is facing a murder charge after investigators say he killed his co-driver and dumped the body in a ditch along an Indiana interstate.
According to the Indiana State Police (ISP), truck driver Miguel Ibarguren, 44, of Miami, FL, murdered his co-driver, Aristide Garcia, 63, of Los Angeles, CA, while the two were working for a Cedar Rapids, IA-based trucking company.
Garcia’s body was discovered on March 8, in a ditch along Interstate 65 near the 187.5 mile marker, which is about half of a mile south of State Road 18.
An autopsy performed by the White County Coroner determined Garcia’s death to be a homicide.
A subsequent investigation led to a warrant for Ibarguren’s arrest being issued by a White County judge on March 13.
A multi-state manhunt ensued until authorities located Ibarguren in Arlington, TX.
Officers with the Arlington Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety took him into custody on March 15.
Ibarguren is currently being held in Arlington and awaits extradition.
Investigators have not released the motive for the alleged crime or the manner in which Garcia was killed.
