Trucker Charged With Murder After Killing Fellow Trucker on Side of Interstate

Berkeley County, WV — The truckers involved in a fatal road rage shooting on Tuesday along Interstate 81 in West Virginia have been identified and one is now charged with murder.

According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department (BCSD), Harold Rue, 66, of Gwinnett, GA, was charged with one count of murder and is currently being held in Pennsylvania, where he was apprehended approximately 60 miles away from where the fatal shooting took place.

The incident unfolded shortly before 9:20 a.m. Tuesday on I-81 in Martinsburg, Transportation Nation Network (TNN) reported.

Two truckers — Rue, along with 29-year-old Reynaldo Gonzalez Mediavilla, of Hialeah, FL — had been traveling northbound on I-81 when police said a road rage incident ensued.

Both drivers pulled over onto the shoulder of the interstate and exited their vehicles near mile marker 23.

Investigators said Rue shot Mediavilla before returning to his truck and fleeing the scene.

Rue continued along I-81 northbound as witnesses to the incident spoke with investigators.

Witnesses to the shooting told BCSD officials Rue was wearing a black hoodie and jeans, and operating a maroon semi-truck pulling an orange trailer.

BCSD shared the description of the suspect and his truck with authorities in Maryland and Pennsylvania.
