Trucker Doses Off Then Dozes A Concrete Jersey Barrier
Londonderry, New Hampshire – Truck driver Efrain Rodriguez, 30, of Hartford, Conn., fell asleep behind-the-wheel this morning and crashed into a construction site along Interstate 93 in New Hampshire according to the New Hampshire State Police. Authorities say Rodriquez’s truck entered a construction zone, clipped the rear of a dump truck then sideswiped a parked car before crashing into a Jersey barrier.
“The driver fell asleep, went off the highway and, as a result, caused the crash,” said New Hampshire State Police Sgt. Steve Callinan. Rodriguez was cited for negligent driving, said Callinan. Thankfully, no one was injured in the accident.
New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services was called to the scene to dispose away with gallons of spilled diesel fuel from a punctured saddle tank. Authorities closed the overtaking lane of I-93 North for several hours to assist with the cleanup.
