Trucker Found Dead Inside Truck At Flying J

UPDATE: (February 12, 5 p.m.) – Officials have now identified the truck driver as Jeffrey McDaris. Autopsy results from the medical examiner’s office have not been sent to the sheriff’s office as of Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities do not suspect foul play.

Knoxville, Tennessee – Police are investigating after a truck driver was found dead inside his semi on Sunday at a Flying J Travel Center on Watt Road.

According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO), the driver was discovered by a Flying J employee at approximately 5 p.m. Police and investigators were called to the scene where they found the driver to be unresponsive.

Later, officials confirmed the driver was deceased. Investigators have not released the identity of the driver as their investigation is ongoing. A spokesperson for KCSO would only reveal the trucker was not a local driver.


Details so far are scarce, but investigators have not given any indication that foul play is suspected.
